Existence and difficult recognition of the Supreme Deity Being

Lots of people throughout the centuries have fought with the problem of the existence or non-existence of a Creator or a Divine Being that would have been present before our world or worldly system came into being.

The great difficulty man has to face is that the existence of God cannot be proved or disproved. Such existence shall always be a matter of “Faith“.

It also depends on what people want to see in God or how they want to look at Him and understand Him. Too many people do forget what people said about Himself. They forget that The God declared Himself to be the “Being” Itself: EhHeh-Yeh ashair EhHeh-Yeh (I Am Who I Am). Without Him there is no “being” at all and without a being we can not “be“. If we want to be there has to be “existence” and then there should be a “Being” allowing us “to be“.

Biblical argument

There are assembled books which for centuries have told the history of mankind and in which the writers confessed that the words they wrote down did not come from them but from a Higher Being. Those assembled books, the Book of books or the Bible says that we must  accept by faith the fact that God exists:

“And without faith it is impossible to  please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him” (Hebrews  11:6).

A remark which can be made is naturally:

If God so desired, He could simply appear and prove to the whole  world that He exists.

In the world there exist a lot of people who believe God even did that and would have come down to earth in the form of a man. Others who do not believe that God exist have a big problem with that man who is considered by many to be God. A big fault many atheists make is than to say that that man also did not exist, because God does not exist according to them. Though they forget that Nazarene man was a real historical figure and as such there is enough proof that this man from Nazareth really existed and was put to death.

That Nazarene man, Jeshua (better known as Jesus Christ) was seen by many people, though he and his heavenly Father told people that God can not be seen, Him being an invisible spirit. Jesus let the people around him know that he was not a spirit, but a real man of flesh and blood, who really died and who really was taken out of the dead. That again was also something people had to come to believe.

Everything turns around not seeing and still believing. Jeshua was also aware of that dilemma and about the necessity of faith in the unseen things. Therefore he told Thomas,

“Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are  those who have not seen and yet have believed’” (John  20:29).

Man can not see God and that may make it very difficult to believe in Him. But the Divine Creator Who made man in His own image provided enough for man to recognise His existence.

The Book of books or the Bible – the infallible Word of God – states,

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the  skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech;  night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where  their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words  to the ends of the world” (Psalm  19:1-4).

Man has only to look at himself and his surroundings and to believe in the magic of his being. Looking at the stars, understanding the vastness of the universe,  observing the wonders of nature, seeing the beauty of a sunset — all of these  things point to a Bore or Creator God. If these were not enough, there is also evidence of God in our own hearts. Being created in God’s Own image we have some connection with Him and a certain feeling for that connection.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 tells us,

“…He has also set eternity in  the hearts of men.”

As such in ourself we do feel that we are part of a bigger picture where we shall have to fit in. Deep within us is the recognition that there is something  beyond this life and that there must be Something or Someone beyond this world and our existence. Lots of people try to deny that feeling or try to go around it with believing in a sort of afterlife or reincarnation.

It is putting away that inner feeling that troubles us. By ignoring or even casting out our inner feeling or instinct we become like fools in the darkness. God Himself warned about such people. He said:

“The  fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God’” (Psalm 14:1).

Many people fighting with the idea  about a godhead, but not wanting to believe in the One and Only Creator Deity throughout history, in all cultures, in all  civilizations, and on all continents came to believe in the existence of some kind of god. We may not overlook that such want for a god and such believe in some gods had to be caused by something in the mind of man.

Ontological argument

In addition to the biblical arguments for God’s existence, there are logical  arguments. First, there is the ontological argument.

The most popular form of  the ontological argument uses the concept of God to prove God’s existence. It  begins with the definition of God as

“a being than which no greater can be conceived.”

We do exist and things around us do exist. To exist is greater than to not exist, and therefore the greatest conceivable being or the “Being of existence” must exist. Logically if God did or would not exist, then  God would not be the greatest conceivable being, and that would contradict the  very definition of God.

Teleological argument

A second argument is the design or teleological argument. The teleological argument states that since the universe displays such an  amazing design, there must have been a great divine Oseh or Designer.

For example, if the Earth were significantly closer or farther away from the sun, it would not be  capable of supporting much of the life it currently does. If the elements in our  atmosphere were even a few percentage points different, nearly every living  thing on earth would die.

The odds of a single protein molecule forming by  chance is 1 in 10243 (that is a 1 followed by 243 zeros). A single  cell is comprised of millions of protein molecules.

Cosmological argument

A third logical  argument for God’s existence is called the cosmological argument. Every effect must have a cause.

Simulated view of a black hole in front of the Large Magellanic Cloud. Note the gravitational lensing effect, which produces two enlarged but highly distorted views of the Cloud. Across the top, the Milky Way disk appears distorted into an arc.

There can nothing come into being without an original cause. Man has always looked for the cause of this universe. We can talk about black holes and a Big Bang, but then we should also wonder how such big bang came into existence or where the black hole came from.

The “caused elements” require something or someone that caused it to come into existence. We also could say

Ultimately, there  must be something “un-caused” in order to cause everything else to come into  existence.

That “un-caused” cause is God.

Furthermore one could question of there have to be more than one Causer to bring everything into existence. There the teological argument should follow the Words of God Which can be found in the Bible. And those words are very clear that there is only One Causer or Maker of everything. The Bible makes it clear that This One Maker Deity is Only One and not two or three or more. That divine Creator requests His creatures to recognise Him as the only One.

2 Before the mountains were born, or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God! (Psalm 90:2 TLV)

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? ADONAI {Jehovah} is the eternal God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not grow tired or weary. His understanding is unsearchable.”
(Isaiah 40:28 TLV)

““Hear O Israel, {Jehovah} the LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love ADONAI {Jehovah} your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These words, which I am commanding you today, are to be on your heart. You are to teach them diligently to your children, and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up. Bind them as a sign on your hand, they are to be as frontlets between your eyes, and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
(Deuteronomy 6:4–9 TLV)

The Bible gives all honour of the creation to Only One True God of gods, Whose Name is Jehovah.

Moral argument

A fourth argument is known as  the moral argument. Every culture throughout history has had some form of law.  Everyone has a sense of right and wrong. Murder, lying, stealing, and immorality  are almost universally rejected. We can say that we have moral standards.

Empathy and other forms of social awareness are important in the development of a moral sense. Morality embraces a person’s beliefs about the appropriateness or goodness of what he does, thinks, or feels.
In our society we have a differentiation of intentions, decisions and actions between those that are distinguished as proper and those that are improper.
Such feeling is peculiar to man. Having been created in the image of God we can take it that it is implanted in our DNA. We say that this sense of right and wrong comes from the Supreme Being that gave us our being, namely the set apart or holy Jehovah God, the Eh-heh-yeh ashair Ehheh- yeh (I Am Who I Am).

Rejecters of the Truth

That implanted or inborn sense of good and evil as well as of a Divine Creator is, however, ignored by many or even totally rejected. This is also already declared in the Book of books, where we can read that people will reject the clear and undeniable knowledge of God and believe a lie instead, and therefore God gave them up to dishonourable passions.

“They traded the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to shameful passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for what is against nature.”
(Romans 1:25–26 TLV)

We may not forget that the Bible also proclaims that people are without excuse for not believing in God because God’s invisible qualities could be clearly seen, being understood from what has been made,  so that men are without excuse.

“His invisible attributes—His eternal power and His divine nature—have been clearly seen ever since the creation of the world, being understood through the things that have been made. So people are without excuse—”
(Romans 1:20 TLV)
